Chapter 7
Hurdles and Obstacles Were Made to Strengthen Your Walk in Life
We were from two different neighborhoods so, I kept a close eye on Eric even when he thought I wasnât paying attention. Playing dumb was something I never did and I would speak up if something wasnât right. Some days when I called him he would be outside or on floor B of the building where he lived. I started to wonder what the heck made floor B so interesting. So, I made a visit to floor B the next time that I was in the projects. When I got there I ran into some friends and I asked them if they had seen Eric and they all just looked at me and smiled. I was wondering why they were smiling so hard and they told me to go on up there because Eric was up there with a girl. This was the type of stuff that I didnât like especially because if we were going to see each other then I wanted to be the main dish and he didnât need to be having any side dishes. I never gone up there before so, I ended up taking the elevator and it smelled like straight up piss and it wasnât cat piss, it was human piss. All I could think was holy cow because I didnât handle bad odors well at all. As I was trying to close my nose the elevator door opened up and there I saw Eric and a girl. I walked right up to him and slid my body in between them. Eric was so shocked he couldnât believe his eyes. He told me that he had been trying to call me and that when I didnât answer he decided to come up here and chill with this other girl. I soon decided that I wanted to leave because there were so many people up there and many of them had crying children. Eric tried to get me to stay, but my temper was setting up and I had no patience for bullshit. I told Eric that if he wanted to be with me then he would come downstairs and chill with me at his house. I remembered how my mother was in a relationship with a married man when I was younger. I never understood why anyone would want to share a man when they could have their own.
I never knew what love was until I met Eric. He made me feel special and secure. I could ask him questions about anything and he would reply without hesitation. He wasnât perfect and he did make mistakes, but he knew that he had to learn real quickly. I knew that loyalty and faithfulness were the glue to a good relationship. There was a three month period where I was moving slower than usual. I felt like I had the flu and decided that I needed to go to the doctor. My Aunt Tammy was
